SAN ANTONIO – Crawford Electric Supply Company (CESCO) invited the construction industry to its new San Antonio home on Weidner Road Jun. 9.

The grand opening celebration included tours showcasing the state-of-the-art LEED certified facility on 8.9 acres near Interstate 35 North.

The party for more than 400 people also saluted CESCO’s fifth anniversary, according to Tim Horny, area manager.

“We are really proud of this building.  It makes a big difference in our morale and just coming to a new place,” Horny said.   “We started with 17 employees and we are now over 50.  We moved from Bitters Road, which was a 39,000-sf warehouse and office to the current location Apr. 30.  We were busting at the seams.”

The current location, built by Red Hawk Contracting, is 61,200sf.  Horny said 50,000sf of the space is the company’s pride and joy, the warehouse.  “The whole building is built to LEED standards.  It’s green, energy efficient everything – the lighting, the air conditioning, insulation, everything that we have done.

“The new, larger warehouse is allowing us to manage about a $4.5 million inventory at this time, more efficiently, which in turn allows us to better service our customers’ needs.  In addition, it has allowed us to branch out into different niches of our market.

“Our motto is ‘Whatever it Takes.’ You can see it everywhere in the warehouse.   Our main focus from day one had always been our customers.”

Horny said CESCO San Antonio will host future customer appreciation events throughout the year, along with customer-oriented outings like hunts and fishing trips.

“One of the things that has been near and dear to our hearts, we are big supporters of youth and agriculture.  So we support the livestock shows in Bexar County and the surrounding areas.”

For CESCO employees, there are Christmas parties, summer picnics and out-of-town trips to attend professional sports teams’ games.

“Our employees are the best.  This business isn’t about the name on the door – it’s about the people inside it.  That’s what makes us great.”
