Bidders galore
FORT WORTH – More than 3,400 registered bidders participated in person or on-line at the multi-million dollar unreserved auction that took place at the Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers facility in Fort Worth. Held Mar. 9-10 the bidders represented 54 countries from around the world including 49 U.S. states and nine Canadian provinces and one territory.
The auction featured more than 3,100 equipment items from over 400 consignors, including 50+ crawler tractors, 50+ hydraulic excavators, 50+ loader backhoes, 50+ wheel loaders and agricultural and transportation equipment.
Asked about the auction, Ritchie Bros. area manager Adam Kawulok was pleased with the outcome.
“Across the board the prices were very strong. There is a lot of optimism among contractors and as a result of that they are beginning to buy and sell again.
“Some of the other things that stood out in my mind was that we had an increase in first time consignors and an increase in first time bidders.
“Our top three locations for registration and buyers were Texas, Oklahoma and Mexico,” said Kawulok.
Last September the company held a grand opening for the new building at the facility. Sitting on over 180 acres the location offers plenty of room to handle the biggest auctions.
In 2010 the company had gross auction proceeds of $3.3 billion at 332 unreserved industrial and agricultural auctions. –bd
