HOUSTON – The “Texas Medical Center: Building the Healing City” exhibition took place at the Architecture Center Houston in early March.

According to Mat Wolf, American Institute of Architects Houston Chapter (AIA), the free exhibit chronicled, through photographs, drawings and models, the growth of the Texas Medical Center since its charter in 1945 and the ground breaking at Baylor College of Medicine.

The exhibit also included the Texas Medical Center’s plans for the next 50 years of growth.

“The numbers tell the story,” Wolf said.  “The Texas Medical Center has six million annual patient visits, 49 member institutions on over one thousand acres, 6800 patient beds, 160,000 daily visitors and 75,000 employees.  From its beginning, the Texas Medical Center never planned to be small.”
