In good company
LAKEWAY, TX – Da Vinci Flooring has operated in Lakeway, TX since September. Johnny Arnold, Ugo Bevione and Donna Davis are partners at the new company.
“We have 1,350sf of showroom space on Ranch Road 620,” Arnold said. “I think Lakeway is a great spot for us. The company name Da Vinci Flooring was inspired by the artist Leonardo Da Vinci. In addition, Ugo is Italian! Sometimes he travels to Italy to look at different types of flooring products.
“Ugo has been a friend of mine for about 18 years. At first I was going to be a consultant for him at the company and then he talked me into coming to work for him. Ugo, Donna and I always talk about how we make a really good team. We work well together and we have fun too.”
Arnold says he has been a painting and remodeling contractor for 30 years and is familiar with the construction process.
“In high school I worked on construction jobsites during the summers,” he said. When I graduated, I became a fourth generation glazer. I wanted to stay busy so I worked on remodeling jobs all over Texas and in Washington D.C. I ultimately decided the flooring business was where I wanted to be.
“I talk to customers to find out what their needs are on a typical day at Da Vinci Flooring. A commercial flooring job we worked on lately was a nightclub on 5th Street. We have also worked on office buildings.”
In his free time, Arnold says he likes to hunt and spend time at his property in Lampasas, TX.
“I love farming and ranching,” he said. “I have chickens for fresh eggs and goats for goat milk. I usually have a vegetable garden, but I just couldn’t keep it alive during the drought this summer.
“I like to cook too. I do about 95 percent of the cooking at my household. My favorite dish to make is citrus stuffed chicken. I use most of the ingredients from the ranch. Herbs I grow these days include basil, lavender and thyme. I use thyme on pork and chicken quite a bit.”
Arnold says the future company plan is to have a warehouse with stocked wood, tile and carpet. “Our goal is to have a warehouse in the next six months,” he said.
