Like father, like son
MARBLE FALLS, TX – Phillip Womack established Marble Falls, TX Hill Country Heating and Air Conditioning 36 years ago.
His son Justin joined the company in 1997 and continues to work with Womack today.
“In the early days, I operated out of my house,” Womack said. “I eventually decided to move to our current location on 5th Street.
“I became interested in this type of work because I learned right away when you are busy in the heating and air conditioning business, you can make good money. I think it is a fun job too. Nowadays, it is nice I am able to take off every once in a while too.”
According to Womack, his son mostly goes to jobsites in the area while he stays at the office.
“Justin grew up in the business,” he said. “He started out doing installation work when he was still in high school. He didn’t really care for it at the time and decided to go into another career for a while. Justin ultimately decided he wanted to come back and work for the business. It is great to be able to work with my son.”
Leon Cooksey is a long-time employee and handles the installation and service work. The black and white shop cat is named Biscuits.
A commercial job the company worked on recently was a Game Stop in Marble Falls.
Womack says he and his son are avid hunters and fishermen on the weekends and like to spend quality time outdoors every chance they get.
“I go hunting on a lease on the other side of Horseshoe Bay,” he said. “Last year, I shot a nine pt. buck at the lease. I went elk hunting on a private ranch in Richland Springs, TX about five years ago.
“In the past, I have been elk and mule deer hunting in Colorado and New Mexico. Outside of Texas, Justin has been hunting in Kentucky and New Mexico.”
In the future, Womack says he’d like for the business to continue the way it has been going, keep making a living and have fun.
“Now what I’d really like to do is win the lottery!” Womack laughed.
