The Atlantis has landed
SAN ANTONIO – Even though the space shuttle Atlantis completed her final mission in July, her namesake lives on. Tino Longoria, Tino's Welding & Fabrication, and his employees built a new “shuttle” barbeque pit as a patriotic gesture to honor the accomplishments of the space shuttle program.
The pit took three weeks to build and includes three components: oven, smoker and grill. The fuel tanks make up the grill, the center chamber is the smoker, and the shuttle is the oven.
Joining Longoria in the design, fabrication and painting of the Atlantis is:
Mike Arredondo, David Franklin, Brandon Rae, Joseph Oshana and Rudy Carraman Jr. –dn
