GEORGETOWN, TX – The weather was sunny for the Chisholm Trail Days event at San Gabriel Park in Georgetown, TX Oct. 15. Activities included western demonstrations, pony and wagon rides, a cattle drive and a barbecue dinner.

During the event, a few folks from the local construction industry demonstrated their cooking skills at the barbecue cookoff.

Steve Wilson, owner of The Pipe Ranch, Dennis Chapman, (retired) former owner of Chapman Services, Clayton Andrews, Chapman’s grandson and Steve Turner, Turner Commercial Properties, were a part of the team named “Buzzard Bait BBQ”.

“This was my first cookoff for the Chisholm Trail Days event,” Wilson said.  “It was actually my first cookoff to participate in.  We had a lot of fun! We won fourth place in the brisket category.  The event was held to benefit the Williamson Musuem and the “Eagles’ Nest”.  It was a joint effort by the Service Clubs of Georgetown.”  –ab
