SAN ANTONIO – Sam Sitterle, Metroscapes, shows the 37-inch, 22-lb. Redfish caught in San Antonio Bay in Aug. This fish was a miracle catch because, first, the line got caught in the prop and plug handles, ran 250 yards to a post in the water, the line was up against the barnacle-encrusted post for a couple minutes but did not break. There was about 20 yards of line left on the reel. “I thought the fish would spool out the line but after 25 minutes, we were hauling it in the boat, then the leader broke. The fish plunged into the water and, grabbing his tail, I drug him in backwards with both hands. My buddy bet me $50 that I couldn’t land this Redfish.” The photo is worth a million, the fish . . . $50, the experience . . . priceless. And after that, Sam released back into the bay. –rd...
